Updates

So, we have researched where we are planning on holding this wedding and reception... and it's turning into a bit of a muddle. We were thinking the Balaclutha, a ship anchored in SF Bay... well the SF Parks dept won't get back to us...

So then we were thinking Golden Gate Park... But there are so many restrictions, high ish price, and the reservation time includes the setup and breakdown of everything (which means we will be paying at least $300 just to set up and tear down...)

So now we are considering having it at a vinyard in napa... Of course I cant wait to see how expensive they are going to quote us. >.< I am starting to really hate this part of planning. We have such a minimal budget...

Getting addresses together for save-the-date cards, and invitations of course (but cant send those until we know where we are having that.)

budgeting

Ok, so in light of some things that are going on... We might be changing our wedding plans up a little bit. LOL since we havent actually done much planning to begin with, and our wedding is a year ish away, its perfectly fine to change things up and not have it actually mess anything up. I've come up with a wedding dress design (i thought it up in the car on the way home from work tonight) and I think I can pull it off by myself :) Well, except the top half, which will still be a dark garden corset. The skirts though I know I can totally pull off by myself.

So anyway, in light of the fact that we are on a super tight budget right now, and the fact that no one in the SF Parks dept will give me a call back, or an email... We might just have a small or medium sized reception in a clearing in the woods or something similar. Might have it in golden gate park. There are a lot of "mights and maybes" right now. I definately still want a wedding photographer, and Brandis has given me her recommendation on that. Not sure what to do about food, etc yet. If we have it in the woods or whatever I'm not even sure what would work as far as food goes! HAHA!

Anyway there goes your semi erratic update. :)

OH, and Sunday, Joey and I are going to try on wedding dresses. Even though I'm making my own, that is NO REASON why I cant have the fun of trying a few on ;D
I'll post photos if they let me take any.

The latest...

Ok, so i know i have been lame about updating this thing, but the truth is, i'm so busy most of the time that i actually forgot that I had a blog. So.... yeah.

Ok so I just started doing Weight Watchers. I've been terrible about eating right, and exercising and stuff, and I just realized that I can't (or wont) do it on my own. Not with any sort of regularity. So today was my first meeting. My first weigh in? 170 lbs. HOLY CHRIST!! SERIOUSLY?! Ok, so my target weight to reach? 130. This is my goal. I set it myself... but it has been more of a one step forward, two steps back kind of deal. This is the heaviest i've been without being pregnant.

Yeah. So I guess I really do NEED this. Cool, whatever. So it's a points program. For breakfast today I had a coffee with a ton of suger and creamer, and a package of hostess mini doughnuts. (before the meeting, before I realized that that would be the last package of mini doughnuts for the rest of my life.) OK, I just cant eat that way anymore. My normal venti white mocha frappachino? That's over a third of my points for the day. I'm not kidding. So maybe I'll let myself have one once in a while, and stick to iced tea the rest of the time.

The other reason I decided to actually do something about my weight? Well half my wedding dress is going to be a corset. Unless I want to waste money on a corset and THEN lose weight... I'd better lose it now and be able to wear that corset more than once.

Wedding hallucinations, er, visions...

Is it strange that I kinda want to learn Irish Dancing before the wedding? I mean, I doubt there will be Irish dancing there, but I had some strange vision this morning (as i was driving home) of me Irish dancing in front of everyone at my wedding... If this happens.. I should be prepared? LOL ok maybe I'm just having weird wedding visions. This happens to brides right?

I need to call Kelly and find out when she wants to go taste wedding cake. MMMMMMmmmmm.

A few ideas

So I've come up with a few ideas this past week, and although i sketched a couple of things out, i'm a bit lazy this morning and am not going to scan my sketches right now. But heres a brief list:

  • Pirate themed. Not going to go overboard with that, but we were thinking of having the ceremony on the Balclutha, A ship that is anchored in SF bay.
  • If we go along with this theme (which i think we are) Then I want to wear a white pirate hat with a veil. I think for my dress, i want the top to be a white corset (from Dark Garden), and I can make my own skirts i think. Not sure if i'm going to be that ambitious, but maybe.
  • I want a second outfit for the reception, probably have the corset custom so that one side is white and the other is black and white pirate striped. Or white with little black skulls!! Then have the skirts be black and white pirate striped.
  • Instead of having one huge three tierd cake, I think we should have two or three different cakes. (Which i could conceivably bake and decorate by myself, or with Kelly's help.) One cake to look pretty traditional and white, a second to be round, and have black and white stripes radiating out from the center. The third to be a rectangle sheet cake that is decorated to look like a black and red chess board (a nod to alice through the looking glass. I mean, i know it's a pirate wedding, but still...)
  • On top of one of the cakes, i think instead of a bride and groom, maybe use the king and queen from a chess set.
  • Not really sure where to have the reception yet, as i'm sure the Balclutha (being a museum technically) wont allow it there, since there will be booze.

Ok, more posting later, possibly with pictures of those sketches. I've got to scoot off to work.

Where do I begin??

Well, I suppose the best place to begin is at the beginning. This blog is a way for me to organize my wedding plans, and also, to share those wedding plans with the people that Joey and I love. If you are reading this, chances are good that we love you.

Joey and I met at the Northern California Renaissance Faire in Hollister, Ca. on October 13, 2007. When I first laid eyes on him, I just about wasn't able to breathe. We started seeing each other not too long after that, and it's been a year and a half now. I've never been happier, or felt more in love and more alive.

Joey proposed at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21st, 2009. We plan to wed sometime next summer.
