A few ideas

So I've come up with a few ideas this past week, and although i sketched a couple of things out, i'm a bit lazy this morning and am not going to scan my sketches right now. But heres a brief list:

  • Pirate themed. Not going to go overboard with that, but we were thinking of having the ceremony on the Balclutha, A ship that is anchored in SF bay.
  • If we go along with this theme (which i think we are) Then I want to wear a white pirate hat with a veil. I think for my dress, i want the top to be a white corset (from Dark Garden), and I can make my own skirts i think. Not sure if i'm going to be that ambitious, but maybe.
  • I want a second outfit for the reception, probably have the corset custom so that one side is white and the other is black and white pirate striped. Or white with little black skulls!! Then have the skirts be black and white pirate striped.
  • Instead of having one huge three tierd cake, I think we should have two or three different cakes. (Which i could conceivably bake and decorate by myself, or with Kelly's help.) One cake to look pretty traditional and white, a second to be round, and have black and white stripes radiating out from the center. The third to be a rectangle sheet cake that is decorated to look like a black and red chess board (a nod to alice through the looking glass. I mean, i know it's a pirate wedding, but still...)
  • On top of one of the cakes, i think instead of a bride and groom, maybe use the king and queen from a chess set.
  • Not really sure where to have the reception yet, as i'm sure the Balclutha (being a museum technically) wont allow it there, since there will be booze.

Ok, more posting later, possibly with pictures of those sketches. I've got to scoot off to work.

Where do I begin??

Well, I suppose the best place to begin is at the beginning. This blog is a way for me to organize my wedding plans, and also, to share those wedding plans with the people that Joey and I love. If you are reading this, chances are good that we love you.

Joey and I met at the Northern California Renaissance Faire in Hollister, Ca. on October 13, 2007. When I first laid eyes on him, I just about wasn't able to breathe. We started seeing each other not too long after that, and it's been a year and a half now. I've never been happier, or felt more in love and more alive.

Joey proposed at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21st, 2009. We plan to wed sometime next summer.
